Coláiste Phobal’s Transition Years to stage ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Since 2009 the Transition Year students of Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré have staged a school musical. ‘Highschool Musical’, ‘Grease’, ‘Oliver’, ‘All Shook Up’ are just some of our past productions. This year our 48 Transition Years will stage ‘Beauty and the Beast’. This promises to be a great show. Rehearsals are in full swing and both teachers and students are working tirelessly at costumes, staging and props. The show will take place on Wednesday the 29^th of November to Friday the 1^st of December. Why not join Belle, The Beast, Lumiere, Mrs Potts and all their friends where you will be entertained with some old favourites like ‘Belle’, ‘Human Again’ and that broad way classic ‘Be Our Guest’ Tickets are now on sale to purchase from the school reception. Gaeilge 24

On the 16th of November Conradh na Gaeilge’s Gaeilge 24 took place around the country. The aim of this challenge is to encourage young people to try to speak Irish non- stop for one whole day- 24 hours: at home, at school, in shops and businesses, around the town, with friends, in sports and youth clubs and everywhere else! The challenge helps to open the minds of young people and allow them to experience the Irish language in a unique and positive way.

5th and 6^th year students from Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré took part in Gaeilge 24 again this year. The students spoke Irish and tried to encourage other students to do the same. Different events were organised in the school throughout the day. Traditional music could be heard from early in the morning. At breaktime there was a flash mob of ‘Footloose’ ‘as Gaeilge’. Students also danced ‘An Dreoilín’. There was a brilliant atmosphere, almost everyone was dancing! At lunchtime students played Irish traditional music, they sang popular songs as Gaeilge and there were students Irish dancing. In Room 11 there was bingo through Irish. The winners were really happy with their prizes.

The day was a tremendous success.
