Thurles Latch On Archerstown Trip 240523

Written by: Aine Knightly, Latch-On Tutor, Thurles

On Wednesday, 24 May, the Thurles Latch-On Group visited Tipperary ETB’s Further Education and Training Centre in Archerstown.

The plan was to bake fresh fruit scones in the centre’s highly equipped training kitchen. The visit didn’t disappoint, and all our learners thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Hospitality and Catering Coordinator, Caroline Maher, and Catering Instructor, Fergal Phelan, were fantastic hosts and took great delight in demonstrating how to make the most delicious scones. We all discovered the secret of gorgeous fluffy scones, but that secret is ours to keep!

While our scones were baking, the group set all the tables in the dining room so we were ready to devour the yummy scones. There were happy faces all around.

We hope to visit again soon. Thank you to Caroline and Fergal.

Latch-On (Literacy & Technology Hands-On) is a two-year literacy programme for adults with Down Syndrome, which provides opportunities for adults to commence and continue their literacy development. Latch-On is funded by Tipperary ETB and is run in collaboration with Down Syndrome Ireland.
