Well done to our 1st & 2nd year basketball team who beat Dungarvan decisively. Hard luck to our 1st years basketball girls and Ms. Corrigan who were narrowly beaten by Loreto, Clonmel. 

1st Year Table Quiz

Our 1st years took part in a table quiz organized by the LCA 2 class to raise funds for Mo Chara Animal Rescue. Our winners Eoin Fitzgerald, Andy O’Brien and Jack Sheehan.

Tipperary ETB Talent Show

On Friday January 26th, two Senior Acts represented our school in the Tipperary ETB Final, held in the Dome, Thurles. A great night of entertainment was had by all involved. We are very proud of both our Senior Acts, solo Irish dancer, Ava Lawrence and senior band ‘Motif’, comprising of Baylea Grace, Caoimhe McMenamin, Erik Hehir, Danny Gleeson and Isobel Hayes. Many complimented our students for their attitude towards performing in front of such a large audience – their smiles were beaming and not a sight of any nerves! They did us very proud and we can’t wait for next year already. Congratulations to the Junior and Senior winners on the night.

Hurling

Scoil Ruáin’s U17 hurlers had a great win over Nenagh College in the first round of the Fitzgerald Shield last Monday in Gortnahoe.  Leading by 5 points at half time against the wind they went on to win comprehensively.  They now play Coláiste Phobail Roscrea in the preliminary quarter final after the mid-term break.

New Equestrian Club

Two staff members of Scoil Ruáin have started a new Equestrian Club in the school. This club will meet once per fortnight for equestrian training. The club is open to any students who own their own pony or have access to a pony. The club will provide training opportunities for the students with the view to train for competing in the Inter Schools Show Jumping/Hunter Trials in the future.
