SOCCER

Our u14 soccer team travelled to Tipp Town to play in the quarter final of the East Munster Cup last Monday. Conditions were ideal on the day as both sides delivered a highly entertaining game that was eagerly contested and produced some scintillating individual performances. Coláiste Mhuire settled quickly into the game and pounced first to open the scoring. As the contest progressed Coláiste Mhuire began to dominate and eventually ran out winners on a 6-2 scoreline. The next outing will be a challenging encounter against Carrick CBS in the semi finals. Best on the day were Darragh Kelly, Eoin Craddock, Danny Slattery, Luke Galvin, Callum Blakeborough, Aaron Hickey, Stephen Maher and Cian Hevey.

GAA

Our u17 hurling team & u15 Gaelic football teams played last week in The Fitzgerald Shield & Sciath Uí Chatháin competitions respectively. Despite some superb performances we succumbed to superior opposition on both days. Gan amhras áfach, beidh laethanta eile againne!

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to 1st year student Armand Schoeman on winning an All-Ireland gold medal in the boys 4x200m relay for his club at the recent All-Ireland Athletics Championships in Athlone.

LIT THURLES ATHLETICS

1st year students made the short journey across the road to LIT Thurles to take part in a plethora of activities coached by 1st year LIT Strength & Conditioning students. This was overseen by Kilkenny All-Star hurler Michael Fennelly. Feedback was most positive as all in attendance deemed it a superb experience to test their skills and avail of LIT’s excellent sporting facilities.
