 Tipperary ETB Schools Quiz

Congratulations to all four teams from Scoil Ruáin who competed in the Tipperary ETb Schools Quiz in Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed, Thurles on Wednesday 20th November. Well done to the teams that won both the Junior and Senior Categories on the day. Thanks to Coláiste Mhuire for hosting the quiz and to Ms. Phiala Ryan for mentoring the teams.

 

Senior Hurling Team

Congratulations to our Senior Hurling Team who beat Pallaskenry on a score line of 5-11 to 3-10 in University of Limerick 4G Surface. Well done to the boys and to their coach Mr. Gerry Maguire.

 

Week Ending 15th November, 2019

 Transition Year Musical

Congratulations Transition Year students on their show “All Shook Up” which took place for 3 nights last week. It was a spectacular performance and a very entertaining show overall. The school hall was packed to capacity on all 3 nights. We want to thank the following people whose dedication and commitment made this show possible – Ms. Siobhan Tobin (Producer/Director), Ms. Adrienne Cunningham (Musical Co-ordinator), Ms. Nicole Breen (Choreographer), Ms. Laura Jordan (Prompter and Raffle Co-ordinator) and Ms. Breeda O’Neill (Wardrobe Mistress), Mr. Paul White (Set Construction) and Mr. Cian Corcoran (Set Design). We also want to thank Ms. Lucy Butler, Ms. Joan Costigan and Ms. Elaine Shine for front of house organisation and to Mr. Liam Griffin for all his work as a background support. A sincere thanks to all our sponsors for the programme and the raffle. We greatly appreciate your wonderful generosity. Well done again to all involved.

 

Scoil Ruáin student Jack Trehy, reaches Semi-Finals of Poetry Aloud Competition

We would like to congratulate Jack Trehy, 5th Year, on being chosen as a finalist in the Tipperary Regional heats of the Poetry Aloud Competition. Poetry Aloud is a prestigious Competition run by the National Library and Poetry Ireland. The standard of the competition is extremely high and it attracts competitors from all over the island of Ireland. The late Seamus Heaney was the competition’s patron. Competitors are judged on their voice and articulation, interpretation, physical presence and overall performance of two poems. We would like to wish Jack the best of luck in the Semi-Finals which take place in the National Library of Ireland on Wednesday 20th November.

 

Week Ending 8th November, 2019

 Visit from Primary School

Fifth and Sixth Class students from Primary Schools in the surrounding area participated in a Primary School to Secondary School Experience day on 6th and 7th November. The students were led by our current Transition Year class and got to sample many subjects including Woodwork, Metalwork, Art, Music, Science, Home Economics and PE. The experience was very well received by all the students. A big thanks to Mr. Sean O’Regan and his team for co-ordinating the days and to the Transition Year students for all their hard work also.

Transition Year Musical “All Shook Up”

Transition Year students present All Shook up in the school’s Assembly Hall on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th November at 8pm each night. Relive the music of Elvis in this fantastic show. Tickets are selling fast so book early to avoid disappointment. Contact Lucy on 052 915
