School Fun Day 2018

On Thursday May 17th a school fun day took place in Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré. The purpose of the day was to promote a sense of wellbeing, encourage positive attitudes and to encourage an atmosphere of positivity around the school. All students took part in the day’s festivities which consisted of two distinct styles of activity.

The transition year students coordinated a series of activities in ‘The Top Corridor Challenge’. These activities tested students’ knowledge in games that required them to identify different songs, sports stars, celebrities, flags and much more. Students were also given the opportunity to test their skill at mini golf. Coupled with these activities were other fun-based activities and challenges that were suitable for everyone.

Also, indoors there were a variety of inflatable challenges that aimed to test balance, coordination, speed and agility. These challenges were; Total Wipeout, The Wrecking Ball, An Obstacle Course, Dash and Grab and Last Man Standing. These activities allowed both students and staff to burn off some excess energy and have great fun while doing so.

Outdoors there were more events for students to try their hand at. The outdoor activities included; Target Practice, Tug-of-War, Novelty Relays and An Obstacle Course. There were some hotly contested races amongst classes on the obstacle course and some very competitive ties between students and teachers in the Tug of War.

The day finished with the main event, The Teachers Vs The 6th Year Students Soccer Match. Places on the 6th Year were hotly sought. The match was a tense encounter. The sides were level at various times during the game. The teachers were victorious in the end but well done to all the 6th year students who played in such a sporting manner and who were magnanimous in defeat.

The day would not have been as successful without the help, co-operation and positive contributions of all the students in attendance. Well done to Mr Mc Cormack who along with a team of teachers organised a memorable day for both students and staff.
