Trip to the Aviva

The excitement was palpable at school on Tuesday as the students of 1st & 2nd years prepared for their trip to the Aviva to watch Ireland take on their Celtic cousins Wales in a crucial Nations soccer match. Despite succumbing to the Welsh on a 1-0 scoreline, spirits weren’t dampened as both staff & students deemed their day out in Dublin a brilliant experience with a welcome stop off on the way back at Junction 14!

Soccer Win

Our u15 team opened their Munster campaign with a well deserved 2-0 victory over Ballingarry College Tipperary. This was an evenly matched contest between two teams that created numerous opportunities, but ultimately the scoreline reflected the difference which was a brace of goals scored by Brandon Mills and Stephen Maher. Best of luck to all in the next round against St. Ailbe;s Tipp Town.

5-a-side Boys Soccer:

Well done to our 1st year soccer squad that played excellently in the regional section of the county 5-a-side competition at Peake Villa Grounds. The earlier rounds saw victories over St. Joseph’s Borrisileigh and Coláiste Phobail Roscrea that qualified them for an eagerly awaited final against Thurles CBS where Coláiste Mhuire triumphed on a 3-0 scoreline. Well done to all involved as they progress to the County Final stage in the next round.

5-a-side Girls Soccer

Well done to the 1st year Girls soccer team that performed superbly in the regional 5-a-side soccer tournament that was held recently in Peake Villa Grounds Thurles. This was our Girls first competitive outing for this year and no doubt the will benefit hugely from it for upcoming competitions. Rath as saothar!

Trip to UL

The 5th & 6th year students of Coláiste Mhuire thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Limerick recently where they sampled the atmosphere of Third level education with an Open Day at UL (University Limerick), Mary Institute of Education and LIT (Limerick Institute of Technology). Many thanks to the Career Guidance Department who arranged this most informative event for students pondering their options at post- Leaving Cert..
