CONSTRUCT 2 PROGRAMMING

This year as part of the TY Programming module our students were introduced to construct 2, a gaming program. A number of students undertook this initiative and successfully completed the online manual. Dr. Liam Noonan & Ms. Bergin are working closely together to raise programming attainment among our students. TY’s visited LIT Thurles for a talk on using construct 2 for games development. They then worked in class time and progressed through the online manual to create a construct 2 game. Well done to all involved who successfully completed the manual.

SUMO ROBOTS

Well done to Mr. O’Sullivan and the Engineering/Metalwork Departments on their trip to Dublin Castle where 5th year Coláiste Mhuire students took part in the All-Ireland Mini Sumo Robot competition. The standard was immense and despite not bringing silverware home, the Sumo Robots produced in the Engineering/Metalwork Departments while highly commended by the panel of adjudicators.

SURFING IN LAHINCH

Our 5th year students made the journey to Lahinch County Clare last Tuesday for their end of term school trip. Excitement was palpable among students and accompanying staff as they ventured off to enjoy some surfing at one of Ireland’s more famous surfing destinations. Feedback was extremely positive from all involved with weather conditions being excellent. The day concluded with a visit to the The Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick.

TRIP TO TRABOLGAN

The 1st year students of Coláiste Mhuire ventured to Cork and enjoyed the vast array of activities on offer in Trabolgan. Weather conditions were perfect with temperatures in the high teens. Our 1st years’ deemed it a super experience and a great way to end the school term before commencing Summer exams this week!

CAMOGIE

Hard luck to the senior camogie team that played in the schools county blitz final last week in Holycross. Conditions on the day were ideal and conducive for camogie and while our girls were up for the occasion we ultimately succumbed to superior opposition in St. Anne’s from Tipp. Town. Superb for Coláiste Mhuire in this cup final were Clare McGrath, Kellie Healy, Danielle Meaney and Jennien O’Gorman.
