The Transition Year students of Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed Thurles recently undertook a two day trek of the Slieve Bloom mountains in counties Laois & Offaly. This trip was made as part of The Bronze Gaisce Award. This award is applied for by young people between the ages of 15-25. It involves four key challenge areas; Community Involvement, Personal Skill, Physical Recreation and Adventure Journey. Students clocked up some 10 miles over the two days as they traversed the terrain and enjoyed some fabulous panoramic views of the Central Plain, resting in between at The Forum Hostel in Mountmellick. Many thanks to accompanying staff members Ms. Cahill and Ms. Conroy (TY Co-ordinator) who arranged this trip that was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and deemed to be a highlight of the TY year so far!
