ATHLETICS:

Congratulations to second year student Armand Schoemann who delivered outstanding performances at the Munster Indoor Schools Athletics Finals at Nenagh Athletics Arena recently. Despite competing against the very best from the province, Armand claimed the gold medal in the 60 meter sprints in an amazing time of 7.5 seconds and won a silver medal in the 60 meter hurdles.

ETB HISTORY QUIZ:

Well done to our 3rd year students who made the journey to Coláiste Phobail Roscrea to partake in the inaugural ETB schools History quiz. While little separated all the teams involved some very testing questions in the latter rounds determined the destiny of the winners. Narrowly defeated by eventual winners from Scoil Ruain were Jack Cooney Shorley, Jack Corcoran, Liam Cooney and Rebecca Elphick. Our other Coláiste Mhuire teams that competed on the day included William Ryan, Cormac Walsh, Darragh Sweeney, James Kinnane, Arnos Zobernius, JJ Schoeman, Jack Murphy, Cian Hevey, Christian Cullen, Kellie Healy, Evan Tobin and Matthew O’Rourke Bourke.

BEREAVEMENT:

It was with huge sadness that the staff learnt of the passing of our former colleague Mr. Jimmy O’Kelly recently. Having taught in our school for over three decades Jimmy was synonymous with the Woodwork Department and held in high regard professionally as an exceptional teacher who was totally dedicated to his students and to his work. Outside the classroom Jimmy will be fondly remembered for his extra-curricular activities with soccer teams, hurling teams and athletics teams. He will also be remembered by all who enjoyed his warm company and friendship, his infectious laughter and good humour. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Marie and to his family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
