BTEI Awards 2018

December 18, 2018

Tipperary Education and Training Board Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) Awards took place on Friday 19th October at the Army Barracks, Clonmel. BTEI offers a return to learning for adults that is part time and flexible. Courses run all over Tipperary and offer students the opportunity to engage in learning from QQI Levels 3-5. Students can progress from the lower levels of education to courses that are employer focused and can take part on work placement to enhance their opportunities of moving into employment.

The opening speech was given by Kathleen Grimes, BTEI Coordinator who was also MC for the event. Fionuala McGeever, Chief Executive of Tipperary Education and Training Board and Eileen Condon, Director of Further Education and Training both spoke at the awards expressing their delight at celebrating adult learning and thanking all staff and tutors involved in delivering the programme along with the learners who attended. Kaye Mullaney, Adult Education Officer presented a bouquet of flowers to Fionuala McGeever on behalf of the Back to Education Initiative programme to mark her retirement and acknowledge her support of this programme during her time as Chief Executive of Tipperary Education and Training Board.

Mr. Liam Ahearn, Cllr Siobhán Ambrose, Mr. Eddie Morrissey and Mr. Michael Power (Further Education and Training Committee Members) presented the QQI awards to students in the following areas: Using Information and Communication Technologies in Everyday Life; Culinary Skills; Beauty Therapy; Animal Care; Sports, Recreation and Exercise; ECDL; Business Administration; Horticulture; Healthcare Support; Early Childhood Care and Education.

The students came from Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel and Tipperary Town. They had been attending courses over the last two years and have completed at least 6 subjects for Level 3 or 8 subjects for Level 4 and 5. Many of the students who have completed Level 5 are now working part time or full time. Congratulations and well done to all our Back to Education Initiative students who received QQI Awards this year. We wish them every success in their future careers and thank them for their participation on our courses.
