School  Trip to Holland

A group of forty 3rd year students & five teachers left for Holland last month where they stayed in Hotel Palanka, Valkenburg. Night one involved a great round of bowling which was followed by swimming. The next day the group travelled over the border into Germany where they took in the sights and beautiful scenery, and did loads of shopping of course! On the final day (they saved the best for last) we went to Phantasialand theme park in Germany where we spent hours on the amusements & the various rollercoasters.   The final night ended with a disco.  All students had the time of their lives while making great friendships and enjoyed the experience of travel. Great memories were made that will last us for a life time!

CSPE Trip 2B

We travelled to Dublin Zoo on Tuesday to complete a conservation module as part of our CSPE action project. The module was called ‘Zooardship’ , a play on stewardship which is a key concept in CSPE.
We chose to focus on the Asian elephant as this is an endangered species in the wild. Many Zoos worldwide are working together to ensure the species survives.
Dublin Zoo has a herd of 8 elephants at the moment, mostly female and the youngest is only 3 months old.

LCVP Trip to Dublin

Ms. Dunne’s 6th Year LCVP students recently visited Trinity College and the Shelbourne Hotel. As part of the Link Module entitled the “World of Work”, students as required to plan a visit out of the classroom. This is a very valuable opportunity for LCVP students, as these events allow students to visit companies and learn about what a typical working day might look like in a certain industry or field. Students learn about the company as as well as learning what career opportunities exist within each organisation. A special word of thanks to Laura Vicinaite, Senior Human Resources Officer at the Shelbourne Hotel for facilitating this tour.
