Templemore CFE hosts Official Screening of ‘Commemorating Templemore 1916 – 2016’

On the evening of Monday, November 14th last Templemore College hosted the official screening of the ‘documovie’ Commemorating Templemore 1916 – 2016. The production was a collaboration of Templemore’s St Patrick’s Day Committee and the Media Department in the College.

Dr Colleran, the College Principal, welcomed all the guests to the College and congratulated all who contributed to this production. He went on ‘we are delighted to host this screening which demonstrates the excellent content and production, and provides key contributors an opportunity to see the result of their efforts and inputs to this important historical resource.’ He concluded by thanking the students in the Media Department who were involved with the production: Paddy Carroll, Anthony Forrestal, Mark Bergin, Shane Toohey, Philip Tobin, Sinead Treacy as well as the Programme Co-ordinator, Nicola Welford, who worked tirelessly to ensure the excellent quality of the production.

Maura Byrne spoke on behalf of Templemore’s St Patrick’s Day Committee. She thanked all the members of the Committee for their commitment to all aspects of the celebration of 1916. She said that the movie captures some of the important celebrations and events surrounding the town’s commemoration of 1916, including the contribution of the musicians of the JK Brackens Scór group, Loughmore Primary School Drama, the Blessing of the Shamrock, a Library Exhibition by Aisling Hassett, St Partick’s Day Parade, as well as interviews with a number of the town’s senior citizens.

After the screening there was general agreement that this movie was an important contribution to the history of the town. All guests remained for some time after the screening to catch up, tell stories, and refresh friendships.
