St Ailbe’s was the venue for this year’s TETB 1st Year boys basketball blitz on Tuesday the 9th of October. The event was very well supported, with teams from St Ailbe’s, Newport College, Colaiste Chluain Meala, Colaiste Phobal Roscrea, Comeragh College, Colaiste Mhuire Thurles and two teams from Colaiste Dun Iascaigh and Nenagh College.

All teams involved were guaranteed at least two games, with some groups progressing further as the day advanced. There were many edge of the seat moments, as most of the teams were very evenly matched.

The standard of basketball was excellent throughout the competition. Colaiste Chluain Meala played brilliantly beating Colaiste Mhuire to take the bronze medals. The final was an edge of the seat contest which required extra time. Nenagh finally beat Thurles by 1 point  to clinch the gold medals.
