Open Evening on Thursday 24th October 7-9pm

Our Open Evening will take place on Thursday 24th October from 7pm to 9pm. It is open to all 5th and 6th Class pupils and their parents. Come and see our wonderful school facilities and speak with our dedicated staff who will show you around and answer any questions you may have on the night. All are welcome.

 

Wellbeing Week at Scoil Ruáin

 Wellbeing Week took place in Scoil Ruáin on the week of the 7th to 11th October. The events were organized by our Wellbeing Co-ordinator Ms. Mary Cummins and were greatly enjoyed by the students and staff alike. On Monday all our 3rd Years participated in “Meditation Monday” where they all experienced a relaxing meditation for a class period in the school’s assembly hall. On Tuesday Transition Year Skellig Group hosted tea and refreshments as part of “Teatime Tuesday” – a social event organized for 2nd Years. They also TY Achill made memory jars and learned about breathing techniques with Mary in the Youth Club.

On Wednesday all classes were given the night off homework as part of “Workless Wednesday”, Staff were treated to refreshments during break and lunchtime. Thursday’s Connect Café was organized for 1st Years by Transition Year Achill Group and Friday’s events finished with “Feel Good Friday where all the Senior students participated in Relaxation Yoga or a mindful activity as part of “Feel Good Friday”.

 

Presentation of Certificates for Instructional Leadership Course to three staff members

We wish to congratulate to Ms. Elaine Shine, Mr. Gerry Treacy and Mr. Gerry Maguire on receiving their Certificates for Instructional Leadership from Professor Barrie Bennett at a graduation ceremony on Thursday 10th October. Instructional Leadership is a professional development programme to enhance learning and teaching repertoires in schools. It provides for engagement and submersion, modelling and practice and the development of collegial networks as a means of support and encouragement. Professor Barrie Bennett author of “Graphic Intelligence, Classroom Management and Beyond Monet facilitated the Course. All three staff members have devoted many hours to this course for which we thank them and we look forward to their sharing of the content of the course with both staff and students in the years to come.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ladies Football

On Tuesday 8th October our 1st year girls lined out in the 1st Year Blitz in Rockwell College. We faced Rockwell first, then St. Ailbe’s of Tipperary Town and then in our quarter final we were unlucky against Presentation, Clonmel. Great teamwork and enthusiasm was given from all the team. Well done to all who participated.
