Hurling

Our Junior Hurling team travelled to Davin Park Carrick on Siur last Thursday to face Mount Sion College from Waterford in their u16.5 Munster hurling final. Excitement was palpable as they undertook the journey on a wet and windswept morning but the weather didn’t dampen spirits as they took to the field with a real chance of winning this contest. Half-time saw Coláiste Mhuire lead by two points but the second half proved a more difficult affair playing into a stiff breeze. In an equal contest goals were ultimately to prove decisive and unfortunately this was to prove the case with two fortuitous Mount Sion goals in the second half. The final score read 3-06 to 1-10 and while CMCO weren’t victorious on this occasion, this very young team will benefit hugely from their journey and look forward with optimism to next year. Team & scorers: Neil Holland, Seán Mc Grath, Odhran Donaghy, Lee Ferncombe, Tom Reilly, Luke Galvin, Killian Crosse, Gavin Ryan, Danny Slattery (0-01), Eoin Craddock (0-04), Jack Kennedy (1-03), Stephen Maher, Joe Cornally (0-01), Conor Ryan (0-01), Seán Britton, James O’Dwyer.

Gaelic Football

We wish our u15 team all the best this week as they face Killorglin College in the u15 Munster final. This should prove to be a close contest between two sides vying for major honours. Whilst Coláiste Mhuire are reigning champions in this competition, few survive from last year’s squad that faced the same opposition in a superb match in the Munster Quarter-Final. Go néirí libh uile agus go mbeirigí bua!

Geographical Investigation

Black Head in the Burren Co. Clare was the location for our 6th Year Geographical Investigation that comprises 20% of the overall Leaving Cert result. Despite the inclement weather conditions, this transpired to be a most enjoyable trip where students studied the impact of weathering in a Karst landscape. The day concluded on a high with a well deserved trip to McDonalds!
