Tipperary ETB Talent Competition

On Thursday 14th December some of our junior and senior students travelled to St. Ailbe’s Secondary School in Tipperary Town where the South Tipperary ETB Semi Finals took place. The competition was broken up into Junior and Senior category. In the Junior Category Mollie Kelly performed a solo  Irish Dancing routine. Also in the Junior Category Jessica Strappe, Erin O’Brien and Isabelle Hayden performed the song “Rise Up”. In our Senior Category we had Ava Lawrence who also performed an Irish Dancing routine and in the end she won the best Senior Act. Also in the Senior Category we had Caoimhe McMenamin, Baylea Grace, Erik Hehir and Isobel Hayes who as a group performed the song “Hearts on Fire”. They were thrilled to be then chosen as the Best Performance also. The final will take place on 26th January in the Dome, Semple Stadium, Thurles. We congratulate all our students on their outstanding performances and we wish those through to the next round every success in the Dome in January.

Scoil Ruáin Talent Show

Scoil Ruáin’s talent show took place on Monday 18th December. This show was organised by Ms. Elaine Shine and Ms. Paula Tobin-Gleeson with their 5th Year LCVP Classes. The event gave the school the opportunity to showcase all the great talent that is very evident in its students. The judging panel was made up of both students and teachers and they had the very difficult task of choosing the winners. In the end the following were chosen:- 1st Nathan Maher, 2nd Jessica Strappe and 3rd Scoil Ruáin Band. All proceeds from the event were donated to the local branch of St. Vincent de Paul. We would like to congratulate all those who organised it and made it such an enjoyable experience for all who attended.

Transition Years go Ice Skating to Winterval on Ice

On Tuesday 19th December our Transition Year students went to Waterford’s Winterval on Ice. They were accompanied by Ms. Marie Sheehan and Mr. Ronan Guilfoyle. They got to experience a true winter wonderland as they make the most of their opportunity skating on the purpose built ice rink. A great day was had by all and they would highly recommend it as a great day out.

Congratulations to our Senior Hurlers

Well done to our Senior Hurlers who beat Tramore CBS last week in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship. It proved to be a fiercely fought contest with the Scoil Ruáin boys down 4 points with time almost up, when up stepped Michael O’Shea to score 1-1 and take the game to extra time. Scoil Ruáin players drove on in extra time and outscored the Tramore 1-4 to 0-0. The game finished on a score line of Scoil Ruáin 2-16 Tramore CBS 2-9. Scoil Ruáin will now play in the Munster Quarter Final after the Christmas Break. A huge congratulations to the team and their management.
