Many of glad of a hot shower and the top class culinary skills of David McCormack and Joe Mee. On Friday, the group hiked 11km to complete a total of 30km over the two days.

Many thanks Ms Gubbins, Ms Ryan and to our guide Michael Desmond. Congratulations to Lisa Millerick who completed her Silver Gaisce on Saturday the 24th. Best wishes to Hannah Fox who injured her ankle on the hike. We wish her a speedy recovery.

First Year Boys Basketball

On the 4th of October, the first year boys Basketball team travelled to St.Ailbes in Tipperary town for the County Tipperary ETB championship. The boys performed very well throughout with all eleven players getting plenty of time on the court. In the first game, a Josh Rowan inspired performance led to a win against Newport College. This meant we reached the semi-final of the Cup competition where we met Borrisokaine. After falling away to an early lead, the boys went all out attack but could not pull back the lead. The final game of the day was the third day playoff against a well drilled Clonmel. Che Delaney and Mikey Corcoran tried at will to break down a strong defensive unit but in the end we were undone by 2 baskets.

This was a very good display for eleven boys who were playing organised basketball for the first time. Panel: Dylan Webster, Josh Rowan, Che Delaney Scott, Michael Corcoran, Aidan Mahoney, Darragh O’Shea, Robert Cuddihy, Jaeden Paget, Adam Ryan, Charlie Cummins, Shane Phelan

The starting line up was as follows, 1.Rhys Shelly, 2.Danny Gleeson, 3.David McCormack, 4. Patrick Campion, 5.Eoin Walsh, 6.Conor Harrington (Captain.),  7.Brian Maher, 8.Jack Hassett, 9.Frank Meagher, 10.Darragh Lynch, 11.Paidi Maher, 12.Kyle Shelly, 13.Mikey O’Shea, 14.Jason McQuail, 15.Darragh Fitzgerald.

We started the match in the first half against a very strong wind. St. Colman’s got the upper hand in the first few minutes using the wind advantage and getting some well taken scores. An early goal put us on the back foot straight away. But a goal from Mikey O’Shea gave our lads the kick they needed to pull it back to be leading by a point going into the break.

In the second half another St. Colman’s goal didn’t slow down Scoil Ruáin as they put over some brilliant scores from Paidi Maher, Mikey O’Shea, Darragh Lynch, Darragh Fitzgerald, Kyle Shelly and Frank Meagher. This win sees Scoil Ruáin into the quarter final of the Munster Junior Championship.
