At our PLC graduation on Wednesday 21st October, students from 2014/15 were awarded with their QQI certificates in Applied Social Studies (Level 5), Childcare (Levels 5 and 6), Office Administration (Level 5) and Sports and Recreation (Level 5).
According to one of our graduating PLC students from 2014/15, the PLC courses offered at Nenagh College are “the best kept secret in the locality”. The wide variety of courses and modules offered, together with the superb facilities and staff support and commitment to each student’s personal development, made this a very rewarding year.
Our guest speaker on the night, Ross Munnelly (Careers Adviser with DCU) returned to address the group and wish them well. Ross had already delivered a very successful careers event to the students during the year which they found very beneficial in preparation for obtaining employment.
One student from each group received a “Student of the Year” award. The recipients of these awards were Lena Tanner (Applied Social Studies), Joanne Dunne (Early Childhood Care & Education – Level 5), Rebecca Mitchell (Early Childhood Care & Education – Level 6), Michelle Schweitnitz (Office Administration) and Kevin Tanner (Sports and Recreation).
Lena Tanner, was the well-deserved recipient of the Overall Student of the Year Award. This special achievement award was in recognition of Lena’s dedication in completing the work involved in the course, her support and encouragement of other students and her commitment to further education. In her learning journey, Lena had already completed the Computer Aided Design with Furniture Making (Level 5) and Supervisory Management (Level 6) awards in Nenagh College of Further Education. In this last step in our College, she found her true calling with Applied Social Studies and is now in full-time employment in the organisation where she did her work experience placement. She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Addiction (Level 7 award) and intends to continue to a Level 8.
To each of our graduates we wish you the very best, congratulations.
