Nenagh College hosts Hurling/Camogie Skills Days event for local primary schools

October 18, 2016

Nenagh College was delighted to welcome a number of boys and girls from local primary schools to the College on Friday October 14th for the first of two Hurling and Camogie Skills Days – the second day will be held on Friday October 21st.

This event is a follow-on from the indoor hurling blitz which took place in the College last year.  Considerable investment in the hurling and camogie amenities in the school facilitated the hosting of an outdoor event this year.  Feedback from the schools that have participated so far has been extremely positive.  Students gained a huge amount from their participation, honing their hurling/camogie skills, being involved in teamwork, building self-confidence and having fun.   Senior Tipperary hurlers and All-Ireland winners, Darren Gleeson, John McGrath, Cathal Barrett and Barry Heffernan were involved in the coaching.  Also contributing to the success of the day was Willie Connors, past pupil and U21 team member, with staff members Michael Heffernan, Liam Heffernan, John Johnson, Tomás Slattery, Joanne Treacy and Gary Byrnes.

We look forward to hosting the second day and welcoming more local primary school students to Nenagh College.
