NARIC Ireland (previously the Qualifications Recognition Advice Service) is based at Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

NARIC Ireland acts as the Irish centre in the ENIC-NARIC (European Network of Information Centres / National Academic Recognition Information Centres) Network.

NARIC Ireland:

• provides advice on the general academic recognition of foreign qualifications
• promotes the fair recognition of Irish qualifications abroad.

Recognition of Foreign Qualifications

As you may be aware, QQI has recently concluded a review and public consultation on our policy on facilitating the academic recognition of foreign qualifications in Ireland. We are writing to alert you to changes in how our service will now be delivered on foot of this review.

• The Irish ENIC-NARIC centre will now be known as NARIC Ireland. From 20 July our service will offer recognition advice by referring individuals and organisations with questions on foreign qualifications to the NARIC Ireland Foreign Qualifications Database rather than issue individual letters.
• Recognition advice in the form of a one-page Comparability Statement for over 400 qualifications from various countries can be downloaded from the database at your convenience, thereby enhancing the service provided to you. The NARIC Ireland Foreign Qualifications Database will continue to be developed and updated to help meet your needs.

These Comparability Statements are designed to help individuals understand their qualification in the context of the Irish education system and may help employers, institutions and other bodies with recognition decisions. The Comparability Statements offer advice including a comparable award-type (where possible) and level on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and a description of the learning outcomes associated with the given level on the NFQ.
