Exciting Partnership Launches New Restaurant Operations Qualification

Templemore College of Further Education in partnership with Parkers Restaurants will be providing a QQI Level 5 Qualification in Restaurant Operations starting in September of this year. The qualification aims to address the shortage of suitably qualified employees in the hospitality industry across the county.

Dr. Noel Colleran, Principal of Templemore College, said “the College is delighted with the development of this partnership with Parkers Restaurants, a hospitality and restaurant business with a tradition of excellent in food and service”. He went on “ while the College will provide the educational aspects of the new Qualification, there is no better place to develop the skills of the restaurant industry than in a market-leading restaurant business operated to the highest standards. There is no doubt that Parkers can provide this experience for students.”

David Murphy of Parkers Restaurants said “there is an acute shortage of suitably qualified employees available to the hospitality industry throughout the county. This Restaurant Operations Qualification has not been available in the county up to now and we are very enthusiastic about this new partnership with Templemore College. We believe that our contribution to this new Qualification will provide students with an authentic context to develop their restaurant operations skills to the highest standards”.

Dr. Colleran concluded by saying “this initiative with Parkers provides not only a partnership of a College and an employer, it provides a template for education and business to address employability and personal development with one cohesive approach.”
