SCHOOL MUSICAL:

The school musical for 2015 ‘Take A Chance on Me’ was staged last Wednesday & Thursday at The Dome. Following a full house over both nights that showcased some excellent singing, acting and choreography, our young cast were applauded and praised for their excellent performances, individually and as a group. Huge acknowledgement must also go to Ms. Caoimhe Geaney, Ms. Trisha Hickey, Ms. Helen Wallace, and Ms. Shelley Martin whose expertise and commitment over the last eight weeks saw the production of this musical come to fruition and become a resounding success. Huge credit also goes to Staff, Caretaker Pat McCormack & different subject departments, in particular Art and Woodwork, that played a central role in creating the stage a backdrops.

CAMOGIE:

Our under-15 camogie squad made the journey to Holycross GAA grounds last Friday to play in a camogie blitz. Our first match pitted us against a formidable Ballingarry side and despite playing well for long periods, ultimately some well taken scores saw us succumb to a better team by a narrow margin. Our second match saw us face St. Anne’s from Tipp. Town and this transpired to be a closer affair with us leading coming up to half-time. Both sides were evenly matched but a late goal clinched victory for the opposition. This outing will undoubtedly stand to our camogie team for upcoming competitions. Well done to all involved on the day, in particular to Claire McGrath, Kellie Healy, Danielle Meaney, Chloe McCarthy, and Shannon Wort.

VOLLEYBALL:

Our senior volleyball team ventured off to Waterford last week to take part in the Munster Cup and delivered excellent performances against Dungarvan College, Fethard, and Carlow Voc. School. The standard in all three games was extremely high and despite a tentative start, Coláiste Mhuire soon got into their rhythm, producing some very good combination moves that ultimately culminated in two wins and one narrow defeat. We now advance to the next stage of this competition over the forthcoming weeks.Well done again!

CABRAGH WETLANDS:

The 6th year Biology class with their teacher Ms. Ryan travelled to Cabragh Wetlands last week to undertake an ecological study of the Wetlands habitat and wildlife. Many thanks to Cabragh Wetlands ecologists Michael Long & Adam Tozer who facilitated our trip and delivered a most informative and detailed tour of the habitat.
