UL VISIT FOR 5TH YEARS

Our 5th year students traveled to the University of Limerick last Wednesday where they enjoyed a wonderful presentation and grand tour of the Campus. Among the highlights of the tour were the Sports Arena, Lecture Halls, the Concert Hall, Engineering and Science Faculties, and the College Restaurant where they enjoyed lunch. Many thanks to Sadbh Piccadio, a student liaison officer in UL who facilitated this excellent day that was deemed a great experience by all.

GAISCE TRIP

The Transition year students of Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed recently undertook a two day trek of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in counties Laois & Offaly. This trip was made as part of the Bronze Gaisce Award. This award is applied for by young people between the ages of 15-25. It involves four key areas: Community Involvement, Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, and Adventure Journey. Students clocked up some 10 miles over the two days as they traversed the terrain and enjoyed some panoramic views of The Central Plain, resting in between at The Forum Hostel in Mountmellick. Many thanks to accompanying staff members Ms. Cahill and Ms. Conroy (TY Co-ordinator) who arranged this trip that was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and seen as a highlight of the busy TY year so far!

RUGBY BLITZ

Our u-15 rugby squad made the journey to Nenagh RFC Grounds last Friday to partake in the Munster Rugby 11-a-side Blitz. Conditions on the day were conducive for playing as our students faced formidable opposition in Abbey CBS, Coláiste Dún Iascaigh Cahir, and Nenagh College. Despite a defeat in our match against Nenagh College, we regrouped well in our remaining ties to produce superb performances against Cahir and Abbey CBS. Best on the day for Coláiste Mhuire were JJ Schoeman, Jack Riordan, Dylan Molumby, Cormac Walsh and Martin Reilly.
