Hurling

Our u-14 team made the journey last week to Borrisoleigh to play St. Joseph’s in a cup competition. From the very offset this was going to be an evenly contested affair as both sides matched each other with scores. Very little separated the teams as full time loomed and unfortunately for us a flurry of late scores saw Coláiste Mhuire succumb on the day by the narrowest of margins. Among those who hugely impressed on the day were Luke Galvin, Seán Ryan, Martin Reilly, Gary Delaney, Conor Ryan, and Pádraig Gleeson.

Green Schoools

Well done to all involved during our recent inspection by representatives from An Taisce in our endeavour to attain a coveted second Green Flag. Huge strides have been made in recent years on campus to make Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed a cleaner & greener environment. A special mention goes to our  hardworking Green School’s committee and to members of staff Ms. Smith and Ms. Geaney for their energy and commitment in promoting our Green image.

The Green schools committee of Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed Thurles are pictured in the photo after their interview with Catherine Broderick from Tipperary County Council in their quest to achieve the second green flag for energy. They represented themselves and the school in a fantastic, positive and energetic manner. We now are in the process of submitting our application form and are very optimistic as we await the outcome. Go néirí libh!

Garden Project

Transition Year students embarked on an exciting new Garden project with renowned local Sculptor Phillip Quinn from Holycross. This is the second year that our students have undertaken work on a Garden project. Last year’s TY cohort similarly worked on our school garden adjacent to the assembly area in Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed and thoroughly enjoyed it. This year’s group plan to work on mosaics and more sculpting including garden furniture.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Tá raon leathan imeachtaí ar siúl na laethanta seo do Seachtain na Gaeilge i gColáiste Mhuire Comh-Oideachais. A number of imeachtaí are taking place this week as we celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. Ceardlann Bodhráin

Mar chuid de Seachtain Na Gaeilge, cuireadh fé bhun ceardlann ar an mbodhrán do dhaltaí ón Idirbhliain. Transition year students were treated to a Bodhrán Workshop as part of Seachtain Na Gaeilge. Under the guidance of renowned Nenagh musician Seán Geaney, students were given a masterclass in how to play the bodhrán, and were shown how bodhráns are made. Bhain ‘chuile dhuine an-taitneamh as an ócáid iontach seo. Dar le gach dalta ‘Bhí sé go hiontach ar fad’!
