1st Years receive Scratch Certificates
Well done our students of Coding in First year who are pictured here with Ms Bergin, Ms Hayes and Mr Fanning (Business, Maths and Engineering teachers). The students recently received their Scratch certificates for completion of Scratch projects. Students worked for a number of weeks on their games, quizzes and mazes to attain their certificates. Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed is a pilot school for the new Coding course on the new Junior Certificate Cycle. Part of the new Coding course recommends that students apply for a Scratch certificate after completion of a number modules on the Scratch course. Well done to all involved!
Transition Year Coding Programme
As part of the TY Coding Programme, Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed has liaised with LIT Tipperary to undertake a course which will emulate first year Computer Science Studies in college. Consequently, we completed a manual which worked through Construct2 and we created 2D games. Ms Bergin and Dr Liam Noonan worked on this project to build links between our colleges. Our Transition Year students found it challenging but enjoyable and deemed it a most positive experience!
