Clonmel obtains its first Traineeship

Tipperary Education & Training Board (TETB) Training Services provides its first Traineeship: ‘Cleanroom and Packaging Operations’ in South Tipperary at Powerstown House, Gurtnafleur, Clonmel.    Present at the signing of the contract were Patrick O’Sullivan Senior Training Officer, Catherine O’Callaghan Recruitment Officer, Matthew Ryan Training Services Manager from TETB Training Services and Niall Crowley Managing Director Impact Training Ltd.

The Cleanroom and Packaging (Manufacturing Operations) programme is targeted at those who are unemployed and wishing to retrain or gain new skills in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Technologies, Life Sciences and Manufacturing sectors. Eighteen students from the South Tipperary area were successful in gaining a place on the programme after completing an interview to assess their suitability for the programme.  The provision of Traineeships is a requirement under SOLAS Further Education and Training Strategy.

Impact Training Ltd., Maryborough, Douglas, Cork in conjunction with TETB are providing the highly innovative Cleanroom and Packaging Operations programme.  The programme is specifically designed so that all suitable and eligible learners enrolled on the programme will be placed in industry.  The programme is for 36 weeks’ duration, commencing with 24 weeks in class followed by 12 weeks on-the-job-training. In the first 24 weeks the students will take five Level 5 QQI modules in Cleanroom Operations, Continuous Improvement in Manufacturing, Packaging and Labelling, Quality and Good Manufacturing Practice and Career Planning and Work Experience.  Learners then have the unique opportunity to complete a 12-week work placement in industry, i.e., Pharmaceutical, Medical Technologies, Life Sciences and Manufacturing sectors.

Impact Training Ltd. are interested in hearing from employers, who may wish to avail of this work placement opportunity by taking on a learner for the 12-week period.  During this time an allowance is paid to the learner by TETB Training Services.

TETB Training Services are also running a Traineeship in Certified Accountancy Pathway in Nenagh and intend to offer both these Traineeship programmes in 2017 in Clonmel and in other towns in Tipperary.
