Borrisokane Community College Notes 23-03-2015

March 23, 2015

Hurling: Borrisokane Community College played Rockwell College in county U17B hurling on 19th March last.  Borrisokane started strongly and dominated the early exchanges.  The teams were evenly matched after half time before Borrisokane had a late flourish including 2 goals from Declan McGrath and Liam Dooley to win on a score line of 2.21 to 1.5.

Careers: 5th year students attended a very informative presentation given by Mr. Guy Flouch in relation to studying in Europe last Wednesday. Transition Year and 3rd year students are currently choosing their subjects for the Leaving Certificate. Information in relation to subject choice and LCVP is available on the school website for them to consider before final decisions are made.

Trip to Dublin Zoo: Twenty one second year students completed a Zoo based Project in Dublin Zoo as part of their CSPE Action Project. Students listened to a talk about the zoo’s conservation programme and were given a tour of the zoo facilities. They were accompanied by Miss Shanahan, Miss Doolan and Miss Connolly. It was a very enjoyable experience for all involved.

Transition Year: Transition year students began their CPR and Defibrillator training on Thursday this week with Mr. Carr. This is a great opportunity for students to learn a skill that can prevent loss of life. Also all TY students will participate in a workshop on Thursday 26th March given by Paul from the Irish Wheelchair Association where the students will experience what it is like to be a wheelchair user and the skills required to play wheelchair basketball.
