Cycle Against Suicide 5K Run in Borrisokane Community College.

Jim Breen founder of Cycle Against Suicide is currently running the 1400km Cycle Against Suicide course around Ireland. As part of this run Jim will visit Borrisokane Community College for 5Km fun run which will take place on the school grounds on 16th April at 11am. All students, teachers and members of the local community are invited to attend.  Registration starts at 10.45am and costs €2. This event is to highlight how important staying active is in maintaining positive mental health. Guests on the day partaking include Jim Breen founder of the Cycle against Suicide and Tipperary hurlers, Darren Gleeson and Michael Cahill.

A group of students and teachers are participating in the Cycle against Suicide as it passes through Borrisokane for the first time on May 2nd.  A number of our students and teachers are cycling 100km from Birr to Limerick and some students will continue on to Tralee the following day.  The college will host a Sos Beag for the cyclists and this will be supported by the parents association.  Anyone who wishes to sign up for the Cycle can still do so on www.cycleagainstsuicide.com.

 

May 15th John B Keane’s, ‘The Matchmaker’

A production of John B Keane’s ,‘The Matchmaker’ will be performed by a local theatre company, ‘Community at Heart’ in Borrisokane Community College on May 15th at 8pm. Tickets for the play are €10 and will be available to purchase from the school or at other local venues in the town.

All proceeds are being donated to fund counselling services provided in the school and the Autism centre.
