Kemmy Business Award:

Nigel Browne is being honoured with an award this Wednesday from the University of Limerick. He achieved an A in Business Studies in the Junior Certificate last year. Congratulations to Nigel, his family and his teacher Mr Martin Hanrahan.

Sports News:

Our Junior Camogie girls had a great win over St. Caimins, Shannon last week. They got off to a slow start and were down three points at half time. After two goals in the first few minutes of the second half and a great performance throughout the second half, the Borrisokane girls got ahead to win the match 7-2 to 11 points. The girls now progress to the Munster quarter final later in March.

The First year girls Basketball are through to the midlands final in the next two weeks. They will also travel to the all-Ireland playoffs. The match was extremely close and the Borrisokane girls won by a basket in the last 40 seconds that was scored by Laura Shinners.

Seachtain na Gaeilge:

This promises to be a hugely successful and enjoyable week at the school. Many activities are planned including debates, table quizzes and art competitions. On Wednesday there will be a ‘traditional music seisiun’ held in the canteen during lunch time. The Seomra Caidrimh will be open daily. All are encouraged to pop in and engage in conversations as gaeilge and use a cúpla focal. Míle Buíochas don an Roinn Gaeilge le haghaidh an seachtain iontacha ata pleanalta.

TY Tractor driving course:

Twelve TY students took part in a Safe Tractor Driving Skills Course on Tuesday 3rd March. The course took place in Borrisokane CC and was run by the FRS. The course facilitator was Mr. Pat Reilly. The course provided the students with great skills and knowledge to take into the work place.

Cinema Trip:

On Tuesday 3rd of March 44 Transition Year students went to see ‘Selma’, a movie about Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights campaign. The film focused on the protest in Selma, Alabama .The students were accompanied by their teachers Ms. Ramona Morgan and Ms Maeve Ryan. A very enjoyable day was had by all.

Bank of Ireland: The school bank will be running every Friday in the canteen at lunch time. Students will be given the opportunity to set up Savings accounts or lodge money weekly.
