SOCCER

Abbey CBS were the opposition our 1st year students confronted when playing in their Tipperary Cup Division 1 match in windswept conditions at Tipperary Town. This was an evenly contested affair that saw both sides play with confidence but two lapses of concentration allowed Abbey to score a brace of goals in a five minute spell. Coláiste Mhuire replied with an Eoin Craddock goal but ultimately despite numerous opportunities we succumbed at the final whistle. We wish our students the best of luck in their final match against Rockwell College.

GAELIC FOOTBALL

Our under 16.5 Gaelic Football team ventured off to Ahane GAA Grounds in Limerick to play Ennistymon College of Clare in the Corn Seosamh Uí Néill. While weather conditions were not conducive on the day some excellent football was displayed by both sides. Coláiste Mhuire played with a strong wind in the first half and led at the break. Unfortunately however, this was to prove decisive as Ennistymon capitalised on their chances more clinically to win out in the end. Superb on the day for Coláiste Mhuire were Cillian Donaghy, Luke Galvin, Aaron Delaney, Gary Delaney, Danny Slattery and Jack Keogh.

LANGUAGES WEEK

As part of languages week our students were treated to the very best of French Cuisine last Thursday. A selection of decadent foods were sampled including French Breads, Goat’s cheese, Camembert & Brie, plus l’escargots (French snails) which went down a treat!

BASKETBALL

Well done to our 1st & 2nd year basketball teams on their superb displays against Borrisokane College in their away outing last week. Large numbers attending training sessions have reflected in tremendous improvements with team performances in recent competitions. Lean oraibh! Pictured below are the 1st year Coláiste Mhuire basketball team that played Borrisokane College in the schools basketball county league recently.
